We custom install lighting solutions in some of the East Coast's most prestigious gardens, carefully navigating through well-established root masses and perennial beds. We operate as a licensed home improvement contractor and we have earned accredidation as a Licensed Master Electrician for low voltage (12 and 24 volt) systems. Our veteran installation staff knows how to create beautiful effects while protecting trees and garden plantings. We hand dig virtually all of our projects and we leave the site cleaner than we found it. Since we are usually the last step in the landscape project, our attention to detail has resulted in our being exclusively recommended by many of the area's leading landscape architects, landscape designers and landscape contractors. We have access to a large number of manufacturers and, based on our experience, know which fixtures are best for the project and will last through the years. Most are made by expert technicians in America & are UL listed. We have strong distributor relationships that result in above and beyond leverage for warrantee support.

We have employees who are talented, conscientious, and experienced assigned to each of our three divisions (design, install, and service). Each division works to not just meet, but exceed, client expectations. Our associates are all trained exclusively for lighting design. All staff are sensitive to lamp & fixture technology; re: glare, beam spread, color and other effects.
Licensed
Outdoor Illumination is a licensed home improvement contractor. On all phases of work, contractors are required by law to carry a home improvement contractor’s license. Did you know, however, that in order to work on any wiring systems, firms must also have their Master Electrician’s License? Many firms in this region perform 12 and 24 volt electrical work on landscape lighting, burglar alarms, dog fences, irrigation controls, audio/video systems and in house control systems. All these firms are required by law to have Master Electrician’s licenses. Outdoor Illumination has a Master Electrician’s License, limited to Low Voltage (12, 24 volt). Any 120 volt work we do is also performed by our electricians who are licensed for that work as well. We take great pride in our work and are pleased to have earned this challenging accreditation. Before you agree to have any wiring – regardless of voltage - performed on your property, be sure to ask if the contractor has a Master Electrician’s License. If they do not, they are simply not permitted to perform this work.

Our installers are carefully trained in the preservation of plant material, from branches to roots. They work hard to hide wire and minimize glare so you can enjoy the lighting without being distracted by the fixtures. We strive to leave your site cleaner than we found it.
Superior Lighting Designs
Our experienced designers provide you with the best possible design to enhance your property. We place fixtures 30’ up in trees to 6’ underwater in water features, and everywhere in-between. We know the best way to work with the landscape you have to bring out its special features.
Efficient Project Management
Our designers coordinate all aspects of the work so that the project runs smoothly for you. We work closely with key contractors on the job that have anything to do with the lighting. Our designers are also available for evening follow-up visits as needed after installation.
Top Quality Lamps
We use long-lasting lamps - including halogen, zenon, infrared and LED - that deliver superior candlepower and color. Top quality - not obscure knock offs. We employ lamps that offer superior color, beam spread and efficiency options.
The Details Beyond the Surface
We bury both line- and low-voltage wires to the appropriate depth; use top quality silicon gel-caps; mitigate voltage drop through the use of appropriate gauge, length and configuration of wire; know how and when to use multi-tap transformers; and advocate the use of dedicated outlets to eliminate the possibility of overloading circuits.

We have dedicated service technicians whose sole purpose is to maintain our clients’ systems to ensure excellent performance. We offer service contracts or you may call us on an as-needed basis.
